Anxiety Self-Sabotage
Self-sabotage manifests itself in different ways. One of those ways is through general anxiety and panic attacks. Symptoms are many and varied:
Ever feel frustrated and overwhelmed to the point of losing your breath? Ever have a feeling like the world is crashing in around you and there’s nothing you can do? Do these symptoms carry over into your business, work and relationships, causing things to blow up or fall apart?
You’re not alone.
Sudden anxiety – and the so-called panic attacks – are based on organic decisions that boil down to (believe it or not) our instinct to survive. Fears like fear of falling and of loud noises came about, in part, because they were related to causes of death, pain and suffering on the part of our ancestors. Fears like these were encoded into our DNA, and are hard to shake. Professor Walter B. Cannon in the 1920’s referred to this as the “fight or flight” syndrome – a tendency to either run away or fight when faced with danger.
While the hard-wired fear of falling and loud noises may be there, our conscious minds play a part in that we create stories and make up stuff that may or may not be true – but are related, in part, to our hard-wired fears. We may be about to lose our jobs or marriage, for example, and this feels like falling. Although there is no immediate danger, our survival instinct kicks in as if there were.
No matter how rational we might want to be, our subconscious memories continue to touch the live-wires called our DNA, nervous system, and endocrine system. Once triggered, our body reacts as in a real emergency and shuts down all but the most essential survival functions. If this happens enough, we become “stuck” in this pattern and our organs, systems – and our potential for happiness – burn out quickly.
Anxiety can be channeled, however, by using a few simple steps. Through conscious awareness, energies that surge through the body that cause the heart to race and palms to get sweaty can also create the opposite effect. Techniques like meditation, Logical Soul(tm), and Panic Away can stop the panic and bring calmness and peace back to the body and mind.
Anxiety can effectively destroy any or all aspects of your life and happiness. Take care of rampant “fight or flight” reactions, and your full potential for life and happiness return.

Detox Your Mind Naturally: Begin Where You Are
Posted by: | CommentsThe Logical Soul(tm) is a method whereby the mind can detox naturally by addressing both the conscious and subconscious yearnings for happiness. This happiness can take two forms: restful and active. similar to meditation, the Logical Soul(tm) technique allows the mind to go to a place of resolution where it finds the greatest happiness, both inside and out.
Sometimes this resolution will be restful, and sometimes active, depending on the need of the person at the time. I learned over the years that there is a way to harness the power of what Maharishi called “the inward and outward strokes” to where it can have a faster and more direct effect on the mind and body than merely waiting for those effects to surface through years of meditation.

Group Meditation
I used to teach meditation (Transcendental Meditation, or TM) back in the 70’s. One of the biggest complaints I would hear from people at the time was “I can’t meditate; my mind is too busy.”
In fact, I still hear this from my wife whenever I suggest sitting and closing our eyes. She practiced a different “meditation” – what I call the “Hoopin and Hollerin” a.k.a. Dynamic Meditation. Followers of OSHO – a.k.a. Sri Rajneesh – learned this in India and on “the Ranch” in Oregon in the 70’s and 80’s as a sort of cathartic release method that ended with silent eyes-closed meditation.
Although I’ve tried Dynamic, I much prefer doing a few Asanas or yogic postures, then sitting comfortably with eyes-closed. It more adequately addresses my need to be lazy. I start from where I am (lazy) and go within rather effortlessly. My mind will detox naturally, beginning from a relaxed state.

The key here is: start where you are. If you are the very active type (like my wife Brigitte), you are usually in a state of motion. Therefore it is only logical that you start there. Personally, I find this approach taxing to my system, so I seldom do it. My “active meditation” is to do Logical Soul(tm) sessions and ride my unicycle.

Can’t Duck the Health Care Issue

Rather than try to “duck” the current debate over health care, I’d just like to point out that the whole issue is a red herring. A zoo. A horse of a different color, you might say. Rather than make a monkey out of myself for trying to resolve the issue single-handedly, I thought I would offer you another Scape-goat, namely memes.
Memes are mind viruses that exist for the sole purpose to replicate themselves. Just as the purpose of a dominant gene is to pass on a particular genetic trait, such as dark hair or brown eyes, the purpose of a dominant meme is to perpetrate its own idea as THE idea that everyone (i.e., human carriers) mindlessly thinks are theirs. These ideas, however, come in the form of information packets that spread through a crowd or group of people like a virus or odor.
Unlike a virus or odor, however, memes attach themselves so insidiously to the person, the carrier actually thinks THEY are the originator of the meme, and not merely the carrier. Using a form of logic based on “group-think,” each carrier human truly believes he or she “knows the truth” about the issue, and that this truth is unwavering.
The ego loves this stuff. We become like super heroes, fighting for “our family,” “the cause,” “the Truth,” “our children,” “the poor,” or “God and country.” This is why and how memes are able to spread so quickly and powerfully. We think WE are the ones doing it when, in fact, the memes are doing US – and are often manipulated by those who understand this process to take advantage of the infection! Like an evolutionary superhero, the meme continues to replicate undetected until another – equally powerful meme – challenges and defeats it.
History is replete with powerful memes that lost: multiple gods (to One God), paganism (to Christianity), Welsch language (to English), slavery, fascism and Nazism. And there are many more.
Just as there is a “gene pool” that creates stronger genes by mixing, the “meme pool” also shows an ability to grow stronger over time, and even mutate. Witness the so-called “death” of communism in the Soviet Union and even China, while a similar form is rooting and growing in Europe and even in the bastion of capitalism itself – the United States! Vacuum tubes became transistors that became micro-chips. Fax machines didn’t die – they just mutated as online communication!
Memes evolve faster in an ego-friendly environment. It seems the stronger our ego, the more firmly-entrenched memes can become. Since the ego is really a human invention (albeit an ancient one), the growth of memes can perpetually blind us to reality.
The actual truth is that – as John Donne poetically pointed out – “no man (or woman) is an island.” Like it or not, we are all connected, either by sympathy or antipathy. Memes utilize this connection (and ego blind spot) to spread their poison. Getting back to health-care . . .
With the current health-care debate, most of us believe one of two things:
- Obama’s health care system is a tactic used by an out-of-control government to rob the few productive citizens of their hard-earned rights and revenue in order to supply the many ne’er-do-wells whose main goal is to vote themselves more and more entitlements, or
- You believe that the poor – through no fault of their own – are caught in a web of poverty, sickness, and disease; and it is the obligation and duty of those who have more to provide for these unfortunates. You also believe that government is the only force capable of enforcing this equitable situation, and that controlled socialism is the lesser of evils to runaway capitalism.
Memes control both beliefs. Both are based on partial truths, therefore they become like “trojan horses” to the mind, infiltrating and poisoning our happiness and peace of mind. This battle of the “points of view” (POV) will continue until one meme “wins” over the other.
There can never be any winning, however, since no truth – even a partial one – can be stamped out forever. It will resurface in mutated form at another time, another place.
The only win-win solution, in my humble opinion, is to “detox the mind” as follows:
- See and understand Memes for what they are
- Release the NEED to replicate a particular meme, and
- Establish as personal and cultural priorities things like relationship, happiness and peace of mind.
These days even DUCKS have better sense than we do!

The Signs are Clear
Occasionally someone asks me about a program to detox naturally in order to live a better or healthier life. Usually they really want to know about the ideal weight loss program, or a solution to some health problem they’ve been wrestling with. The question is usually
“How long do you recommend I cleanse or do this program before I see the results?”
Whoa. No matter how many times I hear the question (and not wanting to appear flippant), I always hesitate before answering. I usually end up, however, saying the same thing, i.e.,
“You’ll naturally want to cleanse periodically for the rest of your life, of course.”
For many, this answer is not what they want to hear. They – like so many modern Americans and Westerners – are used to quick fixes, fast solutions, fast food, and 60-minute TV shows. My answer, for obvious reasons, does not fit that mold.
I, myself, used to ask the same question before I became a chiropractor and realized that good health takes the same amount of effort to maintain as does a good relationship, good business, or a good education. Maybe you don’t need to pay attention to it full time unless you have a critical health issue, but you do need to pay attention.
This means pay attention to the four areas of the Logical Soul(tm) Complete Natural Detox Program: Eat alkaline foods, playful exercise, periodic fasting and/or herbal cleansing, and a daily detox of the mind.
Not ready to change your lifestyle? That’s OK. Just realize, however, that it takes very little attention and effort to get fantastic results. Plus, with a little “mental detox” to start things rolling, you may find the REAL reason why you don’t want to commit. Maybe it had something to do with a belief or idea passed on to you from some relative . . . or something you heard as a child. Something.
Whatever it is, this though, belief or idea may be stopping you from your full potential for success, wealth, health and happiness. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor.
Let it go.

Natural Body Detox: Mind Detox
Posted by: | CommentsThe FOURTH and final step to a Logical Soul(tm) Natural Detox Program concerns our mind and its physical counterpart, the brain.
Before delving into this aspect, however, I want to review the basic premise of the Detox process itself, namely that it is entirely natural. Detox – like life itself – is not man-made. It is not formulated, invented, created, or manufactured.

Choice: Pills or Detox?
Unlike a drug which produces certain symptoms and side effects, a true Detox program or method – given sufficient time and suitable conditions – does not seek to control or manufacture an outcome. It will remove the cause of the actual disease or infirmity itself! There is no formula that can make this happen, but there ARE some rules that allow actual healing to take place.
When I was in Chiropractic College in the early 1980’s, the prevalent working model – then and now – for the cure and treatment of disease and subluxation (i.e., spinal misalignment with nerve interference) was to “remove the cause of the disease or subluxation so that nature could bring about the cure.” We were taught that only NATURE cures, and that man can only assist in that process by removing barriers to it:
“Nature needs no help, just no interference.” – B.J. Palmer

Removing Nerve Interference
If the body is toxic, you can only take steps to
a) remove oneself from the toxin(s), and
b) Provide the body with enough rest and opportunity to throw off the toxins that remain.
Nature has the force and intelligence to cleanse the body automatically – just as it can heal a wound, digest your food, or combine sperm and egg cells to create a new baby!
“Mental detox” can be compared to a body detox in that it, too, involves the restriction of harmful input while utilizing natural methods to allow nature to take over and release the existing toxic substances – in this case toxic thoughts, beliefs, ideas and hidden decisions.
There are many techniques and methods that propose to “program the mind,” “clear the mind,” “settle the mind” and “transform beliefs” but few of them – other than meditation - actually deliver on this promise. Sure, there are ways you can hypnotize or program yourself and others to produce a desired result . . . or come to understand why you hate your father. But is that really “detox”? Or is it rather a form of manipulation to produce some artificial result??
Like meditation, the Logical Soul(tm) attempts to both remove the exposure to the toxic thoughts, ideas and hidden decisions by providing both a conscious and subconscious framework to accept these ideas. Once the subconscious decision is in alignment with the conscious desire, a “mental detox” happens – automatically!
Automatic alignment happens because there no longer exists a “toxic” thought that opposes the needs and desire of the individual. Or, if the conscious thought itself is toxic, we become aware of that fact and change it instead!
As a side note – “detox of the brain” comes under the category of body detoxification, since the brain is physical. I noticed that when I started eliminating most sugar and meat from my diet, killed off parasites, and received hormonal supplementation, my brain became increasingly crisp, less foggy, and more alert.
In conclusion, natural detoxification of the mind need not be complex. Nature – in her infinite wisdom – has given us the tools to go within and discover what makes us the happiest. So long as we have conflicting thoughts, beliefs, ideas, and phobias, however, this state will elude us.
Natural Body Detox: The Third Step
Posted by: | CommentsThe THIRD step of a complete Logical Soul Natural Detox Program is the body itself – the area of focus we normally think of when someone mentions “detox.”
Body detox is not a simple discussion. In fact, I could spend days and weeks talking about the different layers and what it all means. For the purpose of this article, however, I will tell you some of the things I do, and hopefully guide you to programs and ideas that can help you sort through this vast subject.
“Detox” simply means releasing toxins. When talking about the body, this means to
a) reduce the intake of toxic foods and substances, and
b) follow a health regimen designed to release the existing toxins stored in the body.
A) REDUCE TOXIC INTAKE

Toxic Accumulation takes years.
Common sense tells you that if you ingest certain poisons, you will suffer the effects of that poison. Poison comes in all sizes, shapes, and brands. Obviously, ingesting laundry bleach would be very harmful. So also have previously-accepted things like cigarettes and leaded paint and gasoline become outcasts these days. No so obvious, however, are substances like sugar or alcohol. They also cause harm, but not as overtly or quickly.
The problem is that some poisons – like sugar for example – take time to show up as symptoms. Because we live in an” instant society” this means: no pain, no problem. Although we may have lethargy, joint pain, acidic blood, yeast infections and any number of aches, pains and problems resulting from what some call “white death,” these symptoms are not seen as a cause-and-effect problem . . . unless you have approached the end of the line and suffer from Diabetes!
The other problem is that toxins are everywhere. Most packaged foods contain at least some chemicals that can cause adverse side effects and, over time and repetition, degenerative diseases. Not only that, but some foods – like dairy – may be toxic to some people (i.e., adults), but not to others (i.e., babies). Some foods are allergens to some people and not to others, ad nauseum.
Most meats, with the exception of fish, contain parasites, hormones, and toxins picked up by the animal and stored in the flesh tissue. Eggs are also teeming with parasites, and even most fish is known to contain mercury, but are the lesser of evils.
B) FOLLOW A HEALTH REGIMEN
So what is there left to eat?!! Best – raw veggies and moderate amounts of fruit. Brown rice and other whole grains like millet. “Green juice” – either raw juiced veggies or powdered supplements like Perfect Food.
Eliminate parasites. Believe it or not, for every pound of “you” there is, there is at least TWO POUNDS of “other” organisms such as parasites, amoeba, fungii, bacteria and viruses that inhabit your body! Granted, many of these organisms are symbiotic – meaning they work well with you and your body and help you process, digest, and eliminate food and toxins. The other buggers, however, are NOT so nice, and are simply there as a result of outside sources like pets, or from biting nails or putting hand-to-mouth after touching other objects containing the pests.
Certain parasites are also present in the body with ANY chronic disease, from cancer to arthritis, and are often associated with the organs affected. In my opinion, Dr. Hulda Clark offers the best explanation and parasite cleanse available.
Fast on occasion, but follow a proven Body Detox Program whenever

possible. Cleansing herbs and raw juices should be taken, along with a regimen of breathing, light exercise, colon cleansing, bathing, and skin brushing. It also helps if you stay away from newspapers and TV during a cleanse and read only inspiring books or magazines.
Natural body detox is not easy, but the benefits are definitely worth it! Detox not only adds years (if not decades) to your life and gives you more energy and stamina; it will also take years off your appearance as well!
Natural Body Detox: Have Fun with Exercise
Posted by: | CommentsThe second important element of a Logical Soul complete Natural Detox Program is to engage in some fun exercise.
This is the point where my eyes usually glazed over – every Tom, Dick, Harry, doctor, nutritionist and high school dietitian will tell me the same thing, i.e., diet and exercise, exercise, and diet . . . and exercise. Enough with the exercise sermon already! You’d think it would make you healthy or something.
Well, the truth is, it does. And it doesn’t.
On the one hand, exercise tones the muscles, moves the bowels and lymphatic system to flush out toxins, expands the lung capacity and works the heart to increase blood flow. On the other hand, however, exercise can lead to a condition of hyper-acidity, put too much stress on the heart, and cause various injuries to joints, tissues and organs.
The bottom line is this: If you are over 40 and exercising to try to get healthy, you’re wasting your time. Much better to get healthy FIRST, then enjoy the fruits of this good health by exercising. That means stick to an alkaline diet, detox the body of heavy metals and parasites, and balance the endocrine systems. THEN you will be healthy enough for exercise.
An equally important element required for good exercise results is FUN. If you enjoy going to the gym and pushing iron, like my friend Don Sherrill, then that is fun to you and you should keep it up. Personally I hate the gym; I’d rather visit the dentist! Consequently, my workouts have little value for me.
My fun and joy is riding a unicycle. I try to do this every day, and often go “out with the boys” whenever I get the chance (see video below). Do this yourself . . . #1, get healthy. #2 Find some exercise or sport you love to do, then #3, go DO IT!
